STOP! Privacy Policy

STOP! is built so that your texts never leave your Mac. It sends no analytics, usage data, or crash reports to Carpathian or anyone else, and it contains no advertising or tracking code.

What STOP! reads on your Mac

With the Full Disk Access you grant it, STOP! reads the Messages database on your Mac, read-only, to find new texts. With the Contacts access you grant it, it checks each sender against your contacts so the people you know are never touched. It reads both on your Mac and sends neither anywhere.

What STOP! keeps on your Mac

Your settings, the texts you label, the examples you import, and the model STOP! learns from them are saved in STOP!'s folder in your Mac's Application Support folder, along with your license key and a random install id STOP! creates the first time it runs. Before you buy, STOP! also keeps a count of the free STOP replies you have used. It stays on your Mac and is never sent anywhere. Deleting the app and that folder removes all of it.

What STOP! sends

STOP! connects to Carpathian, and only to Carpathian, for these reasons:

• Activating your license. When you enter your key, STOP! sends the key and the random install id it created. We store a one-way hash of the install id, never the id itself, along with the date, so a key can be counted against its device limit. Deactivating sends the same two values.
• Checking for updates. Once a day, STOP! asks Carpathian for the latest version number. The request carries the app's name and version and nothing that identifies you. If a newer version is out, STOP! shows you a message with a link to download it. It never opens a page, downloads, or installs anything on its own.

STOP! never sends your texts, phone numbers, contacts, labels, Apple ID, Mac serial number, or device name.

Like any request on the internet, these two carry your IP address, and our servers record it in our internal security logs, which exist to detect abuse and malicious activity. Your IP address is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used for analytics. The only time an address leaves those logs is when it attacks our servers, in which case it can be blocked and listed in our public threat intelligence feeds.

The reply

When you confirm a text, STOP! asks Messages to send STOP to that sender. It goes out through Apple and your carrier like any text you send yourself. Carpathian never sees any messages you send.

The optional local model

If you turn on the local model in Settings, STOP! sends texts to Ollama running on your own Mac to score them. That traffic stays on your Mac. Ollama is separate software with its own terms.

When you buy STOP!

We use Stripe for all payment processing, and Stripe handles your card, so Carpathian never sees your full card number. We keep your email address, your license key, the amount paid, and the Stripe payment reference, so we can send your key, show it to you again, and handle refunds. The Carpathian Privacy Policy covers this data.

Deleting your data

To have your license and its activation records deleted, email info@carpathian.ai from your purchase address with the subject DELETE MY DATA. (If you write from a different address, include the email you bought STOP! with, and our support team will confirm the purchase is yours before processing it.)

Changes

As we update STOP!, if anything needs to send data not listed here, this page will always be updated first, and you will always confirm it in the app. We will never collect data you have not agreed to first, and anything new that leaves your Mac will be off by default (and we will always make it clear what we are collecting and why).
